Julia Kovtoun, FCSP

As someone who has always felt a deep reverence for nature and its wonders, I was immediately drawn to a philosophy that placed nature at its center and provided answers about life’s big questions. I had been searching for a moral framework outside of traditional religion for some time, and found what I needed in Stoicism. Some of my earliest encounters with the philosophy was through reading Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations and listening to Chris Fisher’s podcast, Stoicism on Fire

I decided to take the next step and enroll in the Stoic Essential Studies (SES) program in the Fall of 2022, and subsequently the Marcus Aurelius Program (MAP) in Spring 2023. My Stoicism practice has been a tremendous asset to me in times of both joy and struggle, and I am very grateful to have found something that brings grounding to my life every day.

Professionally, I do administrative and accounting work for an environmental conservation non-profit in the Monterey, California area where I live. My hobbies include hiking, scuba diving, yoga, and spending time with my two dogs, Wumbo and Mini.
